Local Democracy

The LDF was devised by Councillors from Wards which are not affected by the Adastral New Town as shown by this map. All of the Councillors for affected wards voted against the LDF. All of those who voted for the LDF were unaffected by theBT development at the Adastral site.

The maps above are derivedfrom this table of the County Councillors by Ward and their voting record on the LDF. Here are the minutes of the relevant meeting on 18th March 2010.

None of the Wards around the site proposed for the new town voted in favour of the LDF.

The revised LDF moved housing allocation from Felixstowe and the Trimleys to the BT site. Those Wards voted in favour of the LDF or did not vote.

The Localism Bill

It is clearly evident that significant objections by a considerable number of residents have been submitted to the Council.  These appear to have had little influence on the Council’s strategy for the East Ipswich Plan Area.  The views of local people have seemingly had no perceivable impact.  We believe that the current methodology used . . . → Read More: The Localism Bill

EADT – Sizewell: New N-plant’s £100m a year boost

A new nuclear power station could be worth up to £700m to the Suffolk economy during construction and £40m a year when up and running. The construction period – which could last about six or seven years – is likely to employ between 4,500 and 5,000 people and when complete the power station would . . . → Read More: EADT – Sizewell: New N-plant’s £100m a year boost

EADT June 2009 – Campaigners not welcome during visit

This is an old East Anglian that did not go on the website at the time. There is an interesting remark by Mr. Ridley, SCDC’s Head of Planning:-

Head of planning services Philip Ridley said it was important a site visit took place because the scheme was of major significance for the council . . . → Read More: EADT June 2009 – Campaigners not welcome during visit
