The Inspector has now decided to proceed with the Examination in Public. I don’t think we should see this as a signal that he is happy with SCDC’s response, but rather that he thinks that it is best not to delay matters any further and to test the issues in public.
We do not think that SCDC has provided the information asked for by the Inspector. Their letter was the usual lengthy tome, but still lacked the detailed calculations of housing need and gave little additional information on the list of the supposed alternative greenspace that SCDC had conjured up as a substitute for a Country Park mitigation site. Even a very cursory glance shows at least one of the sites included on this list is a SSI itself – so hardly a suitable mitigation option.
The hearing programme gives the dates, the matters to be examined, who is scheduled to speak and the venues for the hearings . Hearing dates are 23, 24 & 25 October, 6 & 7 November, 14 & 15 November. Also here are the “matters issues and questions” document and the “guidance notes” – both of which give useful information.
Here is the link to the appropriate page on SCDC’s website if you prefer to see all of the previous correspondence between SCDC and the Inspector.
