Core Strategy: Examination in Public 12th July

If you have sent in a representation to the pre submission consultation you should now have received a letter/email  from Annette Feeney, the Programme Officer for the Examination in Public (EiP).  The letter invites you to attend a pre-hearing meeting and asks you to return a reply slip to her.  If you made a representation and have not received the invitation from her please phone her on 07557 633870.

The meeting is at 10am on Thursday 12th July at the Trinity Rooms at the Suffolk Showground. We will not be able to speak at this meeting but nonetheless it is important to reinforce the message to the Inspector that most of the local community is against the allocation of housing at Adastral Park, so please try your best to attend. No banners or placards but the more people the better.

On a related matter, some good news on the Judicial Review proceedings.  You may remember an update letting you know that Waldringfield Parish Council were acting as the Claimant in a Judicial Review on SCDC’s decision of December 2011. At the same time SCDC were asked to agree to a “stay” of the JR proceedings.  This action was taken in order to protect the legal grounds in the event of the BT application being determined before the Core Strategy had been scrutinised by the Inspector in the Examination in Public – EiP and it therefore became necessary to seek a judicial review on the determination.

SCDC would not agree to a stay on the grounds that they did not want the “threat” of a JR hanging over them. However, I am pleased to report that after some rather aggressive and somewhat tiresome communication on their part,  SCDC  have now agreed to the stay.  This is excellent news as it means that if it becomes necessary to bring the JR, the action will not be time barred.  In the meantime the issues raised by NANT, by Waldringfield Parish Council, other groups and by individuals can be  put in front of the Inspector at the EiP.
