The Council for the Clacton area has responded to a 2000 signature petition (ours was nearer 4,000) and agreed to re-think its Local Development Framework. Earlier on locals said about the houses: “They should be spread across the area.” and “Bockings Elm and Sladburys Lane should not be used as a dumping ground.” Here is an article relating to the petitions.
Key points include
two large developments of 3100 and 900 houses on farmland.
locals not having a say.
lack of infrastructure.
existing heavy traffic levels.
lack of employment in the area.
A local Councillor said “What this does show already is that when councillors and residents work together they can make a difference to the future of their area.” The East Anglian’s coverage is here. Also some coverage on Sladbury’s Lane Protest Group and previous coverage on our website.
