NANT Update June 2011

Suffolk Coastal has now published dates when the Core Strategy/LDF will be debated in cabinet and then at full council.Cabinet Meeting is on Friday July 8th and Full Council Meeting on Wednesday 27th July. Both will be held at the Suffolk Showground and will start at 9.30am. If you go to the SCDC website you can access the papers and reports that have been updated as a result of the deliberations on the Sandlings Visitor Survey (the reason for the delay)  Very little has changed other than an acknowledgment that the visitor numbers to the Sandlings is now expected to increase by 6-12% if the housing allocation at Martlesham goes ahead. They have left the increase on visitor numbers to the Deben as between 2-5%.  However, there are a number of inaccuracies in the documents which have led to unsound conclusions to be drawn in relation to the Deben.  As you know, we have been undertaking a visitor survey of the area following the Suffolk Wildlife Trust model.  The survey is now complete and we are in the process of extrapolating the statistics and drawing conclusions from our findings.  We interviewed more than 500 visitors in 4 different locations – so many thanks to those who were able to take part an make this possible. We will be publishing the results shortly. In the meantime we are continuing to lobby the councillors, and to work with our legal advisor and raise the media profile. Please continue to do the same, plus letters to the press.  If you have any ideas of further action, please let us know and please keep the 8th and the 27th free so that you can attend the council meetings.
