Update on November 6th protest march

Dear All – many thanks to everyone who attended the march on Saturday.  Once again we had perfect weather, a great atmosphere and more than 300 people including many young people joined the protest. We even had some dogs marching with us whilst proudly carrying slogans on their jackets!!

The petition numbers were boosted by people signing at the info stand and also on the march itself – approx 250 new signatures. I think we can finally say that we are getting the message across to the local communities and also to the officers and members of the council.  We are approaching a critical time when we can all, as individuals, as well as a group, influence what happens next.  The public consultation period for the reviewed LDF (the planning policy framework)  will start around the end of November – this will be the opportunity to voice our concerns directly to the council.  I will contact you as soon as we know the exact dates, in the meantime, sit back and enjoy the publicity that our march generated.

We had some good coverage in the Evening Star and  East Anglian as well an excellent piece on Anglia News .  Particular thanks go to Ruth, Charlie and Ian for their brilliant interviews.

So, although this fight is far from over yet, I think we can all take encouragement from the recent events and renew our enthusiasm for the battle ahead.

Best regards Janet
